Last Friday, May 30, employees of Bacardi Philippines were trained to make solar bottle lights in the TESDA training center in Taguig, Metro Manila. It was part of the company’s sponsorship of our light installation in the Ati Village, Boracay Island, by July of this year. Thanks so much, Bacardi Philippines for sponsoring this project!
Boracay was originally inhabited by the “atis” or the “aborigines”. The vast development of Boracay has driven authorities to specify areas in the island that will be only for the dwelling place of the natives, a place that they can call their own. The effort has been successful in the leadership of Malay Municipal Government and the NCIP (National Commission for Indigenous People) and other private companies and NGOs as project partners.
